Using collected and reviewed data from the BIO Ventures for Global Health (BVGH) Global Health Primer, a new document has been compiled to shed light on the different types of organizations that are participating in product development for a broad range of neglected diseases. Applications are invited for one scholarship to study the Distance Learning MSc Clinical Trials (CT) course commencing October 2012. This scholarship is offered by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). The scholarship covers full tuition fees to study the Distance Learning MSc Clinical Trials, and a contribution towards local examination centre fees.
Criteria for the scholarship
This MSc Clinical Trials scholarship is available only to a student who is a national of, and resident within, a Low Income country.
Applicants will be assessed on the following criteria: the academic merit of the applicant (at least a 2:1 or equivalent first Honours undergraduate degree), at least two years' proven work experience in the Clinical Trials field, how the skills and qualification obtained from the MSc Clinical Trials would benefit both the applicant and their institution, with respect to current and/or future employment; and

On the occasion of World Tuberculosis (TB) Day, 24 March 2012, the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) has published a short video that highlights some of the EDCTP funded TB research in sub-Saharan Africa.
In addition, this article presents several areas of development: new diagnostic tools, shorter treatment periods, prevention of TB, and safe treatment combinations in TB-HIV co-infected patients.

The Global Polio Eradication Initiative is a public-private partnership led by national governments and spearheaded by the World Health Organization (WHO), Rotary International, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Its goal is to eradicate polio worldwide.
