Stop TB Partnership

The Stop TB Partnership's aim is to realize the goal of eliminating TB as a public health problem and, ultimately, to obtain a world free of TB. STOP TB has a list of resources published on their website and freely available to download, including several technical publications. With particular relevance to the field of diagnostics include following publications:

World Gastroenterology Organisation

This links to the website of the World Gastroenterology Organisation, who have training courses across South America, and in Thailand and South Africa. The WGO is a federation of over 110 national gastroentereolgoy societies across the world.

The site also offers an extensive, multi-language library of gastroenteregoloy guidelines for various diseases and health conditions, with links to resources and other articles.

Call for Applications

The Center of Biomedical Ethics and Culture (CBEC), SIUT, in Karachi has run a successful one year Postgraduate Diploma Program (PGD) in Biomedical Ethics since 2006. In 2010, CBEC also initiated a two year long Masters in Bioethics (MBE) program.

I am pleased to announce the first “Call for Applications” for intake of students for the PGD Class of 2012 and MBE Class of 2013. The academic year commences in January 2012.

Details of PGD and MBE programs, including eligibility criteria and admission process, and application forms are available on our website www.siut.org/bioethics. (The deadline for receiving applications is August 22, 2011).

MERETI Master's Program in Research Ethics

Click on the link to access information about the research ethics programs of the Middle East Research Ethics Training Initiative (MERETI). In addition to offering an annual one-year certificate program in research ethics, they are now offering a Masters of Science in Clinical Research with a Specialization in Research Ethics that combines face-to-face courses with distance learning. This Masters program can be taken full-time or on a part-time basis.

Implementation science research call from PEPFAR (the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief)‏

Deadline for submission of concept papers: 15 September 2011

Concept papers from qualified applicants are being sought by the United
States Government, represented by the United States Agency for
International Development (USAID), for funding a limited number of
awards to support implementation science research and evaluation of
programs impelemented under PEPFAR. Awardees will be supported to
address gaps in the evidence base for improved HIV/AIDS programming,
including research on effective interventsion and models of effective,
efficient implementations, as well as approaches for adopting and
integrating programs, technologies and guidelines for optimal, timely
effect and impact.

USAID anticipates awarding up to forty (40) cooperative agreements and
obligating a maximum total ceiling of US$ 30 million over three years.

Short-listed proposal writers will be invited to TDR grant writing
workshops to further develop proposals.
