groups » Trial Management » Disease Management - how to make improvements?

Hello,

I am Ichega Moses from south Sudan, Medical Lab student, basically the commonest killers in my country here are Malaria, Diarrhea, and then Pneumonia, but I have seen most patients been brought back to the health facilities for the same conditions, meaning either the patients are not responding to the drugs given or drugs are used wrongly. What do we say?

    Dear Ichega

Welcome to Global Health Trials and thank you for your interesting question. It sounds like some disease management research studies could be in order!

Have you looked at resistance mapping for certain drugs? For example, WWARN (the WorldWide Antimalarial Resistance Network: www.wwarn.org) looks at pooling data on resistance to antimalarial treatments. It might be of interest to you. I am sure that other groups do similar project for diarrhea nad pneumonia.

    What do others think?

    Thank you!
