groups » Training and Career Development » Training Courses in Clinical Trials - what exists and what do you need?

The Global Health Network is making an inventory of all the training courses that we can find in clinical trials or clinical research, particularly those with a focus on pragmatic research or tropical medicine. We can then assess the gaps that exist and look at ways of working with other institutions to develop new training courses and make them as accessible as possible.

We will make the inventory publically available, but we need everyone's help to create it! What training courses do you know of in clinical trials? It could be an MSc like London School's distance learning in clinical trials masters course, or it could be an eLearning centre like Global Health Trials' eLearning centre.

b) courses that you wish existed

Please make sure these are of general interest - they should be about how to run trials or research, as opposed to being about specific diseases, for example. Thanks all!

    The University of Edinsbur has an MsC in clinical trials
    EDX with HarvardX has a MOOC on clinical trials, also has another one in RCT
    Canvas has a MOOC on scientific method
    Coursera has a MOOC on data analysis, statistical thinking, questionary development, and mucho more on data, and some introductory in clinical trials.
    Boston University has a Msc on clinical investigation
    University of Liverpool has an Msc on clinical research
    And there are more MOOCS on coursera regarding research

    There is a one week long, contact session, certificate course in Clinical Trials at the University of the Witwatersrand School of Public Health, Johhannesburg. They also offer another certificate course in Statistical Considerations in Clinical Trials.
    I feel that a full course at postgraduate diploma or masters level is needed in South Africa, as we have become a hub for clinical research.
