  • Would you please, recommend related websites and online courses other than this helpful one that would help me organize my duties, as we are conducting two trials at the same time starting in August 2014 in our research site. I am the document controller for both studies. I don't wanna commit any mistakes as possible, so am in bad need for helpful checklists & advice for organizing all these documents.

Hi everyone, while this discussion is now quite old I still thought you all might be interested to see that the 'MPH Programs List' group have recently been seeking out information about grants and funding for Public Health training, which will be suitable for developing countries. Their extensive list clearly details what level of tuition is available, the available funding, and links to the relevant institution. To view this useful resource, please follow this link:

and here's a direct link to some Wellcome funding for PH Masters: http://www.wellcome.ac.uk/Funding/Biomedical-science/Funding-schemes/Fellowships/Public-health-and-tropical-medicine/wtd025881.htm

    Dear Guewo

We have organised an one day skills sharing workshop last year at the Biotechnology Centre in Yaounde. We look forward to more focused lunchtime seminars which will bring people closer to experts and enable them to get mentorsip at close range.

    Dear Guewo

Global Health Trials regularly works with groups such as University of Yaounde to organise free skills sharing workshops in clinical research (not necessarily focussed on public health but there will usually be relevant talks).

Keep an eye on the website for upcoming training in your area. However, we invite members of Global Health Trials to also share any other local training opportunities that they know of online so that others can benefit from them.

    Kind regards
    the Editorial Team

  • Dear all - thank you

I just wanted to let you know that I am based in Cameroon Younde. During the time I previously posted I was away I was in town for family problems.

Thank you, great is my pleasure to read.

It would be a real pleasure for us (my friends and I) receive invitations to participate in seminars or training workshops on public health.

    Merci

I see you are based in Nigeria: I must tell you Ibadan has the highest MPH training in Africa due to the rigorous nature of the programme as it is classified as both academic and professional equivalent to Masters of Philosophy (M.Phil) of University of Ibadan and hence its a 2-year programme which would last for 5-10 years depending on several issues. But there are no scholarships or bursary opportunities. I only received grant from CODESRIA only for my MPH dissertation. you may visit: http://www.ui.edu.ng/
for further details about the programme and available to welcome any further assistance.

    Warm regards

    Hi again Guewo

I noticed this article today and thought it was very timely, and that I would forward the information! It it titled: "Current status and future prospects of epidemiology and public health training and research in the WHO African region" and the link is:

    Dear Guewo

Have you seen the external resources on the eLearning library on this site? Here is the link. There are some very useful ones, and Global Health Trials have noted which are free (most of them are).
    http://globalhealthtrials.tghn.org/elearning/other-e-learning-resources/

In particular I would recommend the John Hopkins ones (number 7 on the list). You won't get a diploma or anything but there is a huge amount of free information, including public health and epidemiology. I have learnt a lot from these!

    Jochenga

  • Dear both

I would like to have free online courses that will give me a general knowledge of public health, and I'd ideally like a diploma at the end of the course if possible.

    Thank you

    ----

Cher Magata, Merci pour la réaction.

j'aimerais avoir des cours en ligne gratuits qui pourront me donner des connaissances générales sur la santé publique de façon à être sanctionner par un diplôme justifiant cette formation.

    Merci Cher Magata

Dear Guewo - I am also interested in finding out about this, and am going to ask my colleagues here. What sort of public health are you interested in: do you want an overview/general course, or are you looking for a specific topic within public health? I look forward to hearing from you.
