22-24th November 2022 CAPETOWN

The Global Health Network: 10 Years of addressing inequity in where research happens, who leads & who benefits.

To tackle disease we need evidence and that evidence needs to be generated through every type of health research study. This conference will bring together health research teams, organisations, health workers, policymakers, and practitioners to explore together how health research can be embedded into every healthcare setting. The Global Health Network is also celebrating 10 years of mobilising research skills, know-how, and methods to foster capable teams that generate new treatmentstrategies and prevention mechanisms that reduce the burden of disease within communities.

This conference will discover and share excellence in health research across disease areas, geographies, and types of research and generate outputs that can be taken up and used by others: it will be ‘The Global Health Network live’!

We welcome everyone in a study team. For every delegate who can afford to attend we will be supporting a delegate who otherwise could not afford to come. This conference will be live-streamed at no cost to online participants.

The scientific program

  1. Enabling research in every healthcare setting to tackle everyday disease and embed lasting research capabilities.
  2. Generating evidence from existing data and applying data science through data sharing and novel analytical approaches.
  3. Engaging the community and building public trust in health research.
  4. Developing research leadership, fostering team science, and delivering evidence through equitable partnerships and networks.
  5. improving research processes and outputs by using digital technology, applying novel research methods and approaches, or knowledge mobilisation.
  6. Taking research findings into policy and practice through implementation, discoverability, and connecting health research with public health.

Symposia

We invite our partners to hold focus symposia within their area of interest. For example, we are planning symposia on AMR, a focus session for global health research nurses, and another on Biorepositories. We aim for these focus areas to encourage and facilitate sharing of know-how in the specific topic between disease areas, teams, across geographies, and organisations.

Please get in touch if you are interested in running a symposium at what we expect will be a well-attended conference both in-person and freely streamed online as well as being recorded for ongoing sharing.
