This was my first interface with HSCT, and since then I became passionate about it. In May 2021, I returned back hoping to re-establish ASU Pediatric BMT unit which face some logistic difficulties and was on hold for many years at that time. Together with my colleagues, we succeeded in slowly starting a small unit and managed to transplant nine patients and had two patients who received immunosuppressive therapy for severe aplastic anemia in the past ten months. We have a long waiting list, and we aim to increase rates of new patients’ admission in the coming months. Moreover, as consultants in our field, we have a duty to teach our junior staff. This little BMT experience and my recognition of the gaps and needs for improving our service is my true motivation for studying and learning in this field of HSCT. Giving me the chance to work and do some research work at an imminent institution will certainly boost my experience in the field and improve the kind of knowledge that will be propagated to my colleagues. This will eventually be reflected in the clinical and research services provided to the patients at our center.
