About: Uzoamaka Okwor is currently a doctoral researcher in epidemiology at the University of Arizona, bringing with her a nursing background and over a decade of clinical and hands-on research experience in both infectious and non-infectious diseases in Sub-Saharan Africa. She obtained a master's degree in public and global health from Tampere University, Finland, where she worked on prostate cancer research and also worked with the World Federation of Public Health Association on tobacco cessation projects. Demonstrating impressive analytical and research abilities, she has successfully managed multiple research studies concurrently while upholding the highest ethical standards. As a Public health nurse, Uzoamaka is particularly passionate about non-communicable disease/chronic disease epidemiology, with a focus on cancer and cardiovascular disease prevention and health promotion. Proactive, organized, and a critical thinker, Uzoamaka is a resilient team player and multitasker with exceptional leadership and time management skills. Committed to reducing the disease burden, her aim is to further cultivate outstanding epidemiologic skills through her PhD program, specifically focusing on chronic diseases, with the goal of evolving into an independent researcher.
