About: I am a doctor working as a clinical researcher at the Clinical Research Office of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, Lahore, Pakistan. My main areas of work are clinical trials chiefly cancer treatment trials and genetics research. In addition, I am responsible for coordination of collaborative academic research projects with international research groups such as International Network of Cancer Treatment and Research (INCTR) and Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) etc. I am also part of our hospital’s nationwide cancer awareness campaigns. After my MBBS degree , I have completed a post graduate diploma in biomedical ethics from Centre of Biomedical Ethics and Culture (CBEC), SIUT, Karachi, Pakistan. I am currently enrolled in a post graduate programme (MSc) in clinical trials with the University of Edinburgh (UoE) , UK I am currently running a research ethics training programme for trainee residents, fellows and research scientists at my current workplace which focuses on ethical issues posed by informed consent in research , standard of care in developing world clinical trials and genetic research. I am a member of the hospital ethics committee and also a moderator for its educational activities aimed at creating sensitization about medical ethics issues amongst hospital employees. My research interests include, cancer research, ethics of clinical research in a developing country and palliative care.
