Jia B kangbai

About: Jia Kangbai was a William J. Fulbright (USA) and DAAD (Germany) Fellow with a PhD degree in Medical Research – International Health from the Ludwig Maximillians University in Germany and a Masters in Public Health degree (Epidemiology and Biostatics option) from the University of Kentucky in USA. He is an Adjunct Professor in the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine; and also teaches public health courses at the Njala University in Sierra Leone. He has more than 43 scientific publications in high impact journals mostly as first author; and has also conducted several top notch consultancies on issues ranging from environmental impact assessment to infectious diseases treatment and environmental health sanitations. He has been Principal Investigator for dozens of international grants mostly on infectious diseases and treatment outcome studies in Sierra Leone. Jia is a member of several international and national scientific groupings including the International Society of Infectious Diseases (ISID), USA, Health Equity Group; World Federation of Public Health Association (WFPHA), Geneva, Switzerland and the Sierra Leone Biomedical Health Research Group, Sierra Leone. Jia has 8 years of professional experience in disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, medical data cleaning and coding, predictive treatment outcome analysis, machine learning, and reporting of medical research data in academic journals and health facility administration using analytical software such as R, EpiInfo, SAS, Python, Matalab software. He has experience in implementing R, EpiInfo, SAS programming solution on large medical record data, machine learning, ROC, confusion matrix designing, statistical consulting resulting into statistical analytical plans, protocol design and reviews, project designing, sample size calculations and confidence interval, calculation to support research method development protocol, ad-hoc analysis request both within and outside department, experience in data analysis including ANOVA Bivariate, Multivariate Logistic, Poisson-Negative Binomial and Quassi Poisson Regression, Cox Proportional Hazard Ratio Regression Analysis, Correlation, Spatial analysis and mapping, Heat map plotting, Descriptive statistical analysis, Survival analysis, Kaplan Meier Curve etc, collection, analyzing and interpreting of spatial surveillance data, treatment outcome and safety research, and running PCR for infectious disease diagnosis.
