The Global Health Network welcomes the highly encouraging news from Pfizer/ Biontech that interim analysis has shown strong protection against COVID-19 after a course of two injections. 

Whilst we need to understand more about the nature of the protection and have a full safety analysis, this remains a remarkable milestone for health science and gives very strong indication that effective vaccines are a real possibility.

The Global Health Network is proud to be working with the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) to support COVAX through which CEPI, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and the World Health Organization (WHO) are driving equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines. We hope that a series of successful vaccines will now come through the pipeline to end this devastating pandemic in every corner of the globe.
